Xiaomi has launched the Smart Door Lock 4 Pro, a new smart door lock focused on home security. This new product includes high-end security features such as AI-powered palm vein recognition and 3D facial authentication. With this move, Xiaomi strengthens its position in the premium smart home market.
Xiaomi Announces Next-Generation Smart Door Lock
The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 4 Pro offers a total of 12 different unlocking methods. Most notably, AI-powered palm vein recognition technology provides recognition in less than a second with a less than 1 percent rejection rate.
The model also supports 3D facial recognition, which offers a similar level of accuracy. Other options include a fingerprint reader, a password entry panel, and an NFC reader. The door can also be unlocked via the Xiaomi app.
On the security front, the door lock features a 2MP camera with a 152-degree viewing angle, 24 GHz millimeter-wave radar, and AI-powered human detection. When someone stands near the door, recording is automatically initiated and an alert is sent to the user. The camera supports color night vision and switches to black-and-white mode in dark environments.
The interior display illuminates when the doorbell is rung, making it easier to see outside. The lock also has an automatic locking mechanism that provides multiple alerts for tampering, forced entry, or repeated unsuccessful attempts.
The lock’s battery is powered by two different batteries: a 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery that lasts approximately four months, and four AA batteries that last approximately six months. There’s a USB-C port for indoor and outdoor charging, and emergency backup power can be provided with a power bank. The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 4 Pro is available in China for 2499 yuan (about $350).
